HOW TO JOIN
Public testing is open
By joining, you understand that VoidRift is a work in progress and that you will be helping us test it. Expect bugs, restarts, and wipes. We really appreciate your help.
New server, work in progress
VoidRift is a new server and still a work in progress. Frequent wipes may be needed to resolve issues as they come up. Once the server is stable, wipes are expected every 3 to 6 months.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
Own Avorion on Steam
You'll need a copy of Avorion on Steam. The base game includes multiplayer — no DLC required to join VoidRift.
Avorion on Steam →Find the Server
In Avorion, open Multiplayer and look for "[US] VoidRift" in the server browser. There is no address to type: you join straight from the list.
Let the Mods Download
The server runs 85 Steam Workshop mods. Avorion downloads them automatically when you connect, and the first connection can take a few minutes. Don't quit while it works.

Give the rules a quick read before playing. It's a short list and keeps the server enjoyable for everyone.
Read Rules →Known Boxelware / Steam Bug — “Server Not Available” Error
Modded Avorion servers have a known glitch where you may see a Server not available error even when other players are connected. This is a known Boxelware / Steam bug — not a server or mod issue.
Workaround: immediately try to connect again. You'll get an Authentication error this time — that's expected. Step away for about 10 minutes, then try connecting once more. It should work.
After a restart: just after the server restarts, the list can briefly show an old entry. If your connection fails, refresh the server list and try again.
The frequency of this error is lower if you are subscribed to and up to date on all the mods on the mod list before your first connection attempt.
Ask the In-Game Assistant
Stuck, or curious about the rules or the mods? Type /ask your question in chat for a private answer, or /ai your questionto ask in public so everyone can follow along. It knows the server's rules and mods, and it can tell you who is online and when the next restart is. There's a short cooldown between questions.
